Mapping with Google Maps

ClinicTracker uses mapping technology to provide directions to and from scheduled appointments.

You can access the mapping functions by clicking the car icon  on these ClinicTracker pages:

1. Demographics

2. Event Details form in the Scheduler

When you click on the car icon, you will be presented with many options. You will also see an item for each building you have configured through the Maintenance Menu, which will be labeled ‘ ___ to Patient’ (e.g.. Main Office to Patient).

Launch Google Maps

Clicking this option lets you use a subset of the features offered by Google Maps. For access to all of the features, run the application externally from the location where it was installed.  If you wish to put the routing information on the Event Details Form, click the Extract Data button to calculate the directions, time, and distance. The system will place the information in the appropriate spots in that form.

Office Building to Patient

Click this option to calculate the routing information from the selected office location to the address of the linked patient. In order to successfully use this feature, you will need to have the building address correctly entered in the Building/Billing Location Input section of the Maintenance Menu and the patient’s address entered in the Demographics form.

You will first be asked if you would like to calculate round-trip directions. You will then be given a choice: Click "Yes" to display the Google Maps route, or "No" to simply extract routing information. The first choice is to launch Google Maps with the two addresses loaded and the route already calculated. You can view the map on-screen and modify the addresses. Once you are satisfied, you can then click the Extract Data button. The second choice is to do all the calculations in the background and simply place the directions, time, and distance calculations in the appropriate spots on the Event Details Form.

Staff Home to Patient

The popup menu will contain an additional item labeled ‘Staff Home to Patient.’ Click this option to calculate the routing information from the home address of the linked staff member to the address of the linked patient. In order to successfully use this feature, you will need to have the staff member’s home address correctly entered in their Staff Info record and the patient’s address entered in the Demographics form. You are then given two options.
