Entering an Insurance Authorization

 

You can access the Insurance Authorization form from the Patient Contacts Actions menu, the Financial tab of the Demographics module, and the Appointments tab.

 

You can access the Insurance Authorization form a number of ways. One way is by going to: Patients -> Demographics. From any tab on the demographics form, you can click on Insurance Auths.

 

 

Then, follow the steps below to enter the authorization:

  1. Select the payor from the drop-down

    -or-

    Use the Authorization Package button to select an Authorization Package or Master Authorization Package then skip to step 9
     
  2. Enter the effective date range
  3. Enter the Authorization Code or check N/A
  4. If this is an updated revision of an existing authorization, use the drop-down to select the revision number
  5. Check the Allow to Lapse option if you do not receive expiring authorization notifications about this authorization
  6. Enter the allowable units for this authorization, options include:
    • Number of sessions
    • Duration (In Hours)
    • Auth Days
    • Auth Claims
    • Auth Allowed Amount
  7. Select the services that are covered by this authorization. You can also use the Quick-Select by Service Category to use a pre-defined list of services
  8. If this authorization only covers services provided by a certain provider, use the Clinician drop-down to select the provider name
  9. Press Save
