Associating an Insurance Authorization with an Appointment

You can access the Insurance Authorization form from the Patient Contacts Actions menu, the Demographics form, and the Appointments tab.

 

You can associate an Insurance Authorization with an Appointment record (Patient Contact) by inputting the Authorization Code from the Insurance Authorization in to the Auth Code field.

 

When you save an appointment with an authorization code, ClinicTracker will perform a series of checks. It will validate that the service date falls within the acceptable range, the payor (if entered) matches the authorizing payor, the service matches an authorized service (if recorded), and the clinician (if entered) is authorized. It will also check that the current appointment will stay within the amount/duration limitations of the authorization.

 

If any of these checks fails, you will be notified and have the option of correcting the mismatched information, or proceeding with the save.

 

Note: If your administrator has enabled the Block saving a Patient Contact with Mismatched Authorization option, you will not be able to save the Patient Contact if any of the checks fail.
