Set Database Path Information

The very first time you log into ClinicTracker, the system might ask you the location (what's known as "path information") of the shared file that will hold the data. That prompt won't appear again. Also know that you can modify that information at any time by selecting "Configure" in the drop-down menu located at the bottom right-hand corner.

The Set Database Information form gives you the option to connect to multiple databases. These different databases are referred to as "instances."

The available fields are:

FIELD NAME DESCRIPTION
Name The name displayed in the Instance drop-down on the Log In Screen
Description A description of the Instance that will display if you mouseover appears if y, the description displayed when placing your mouse over the data source name on the Log In form [AB: Isn't it more accurate to say: "The label you want
Path The folder containing the dbConfig.ini file. To select this folder, click the eye icon to the right of this textbox and use the file dialogue to navigate to the file/folder.
Force TCP Connection Check this box if you receive the error message -2147467259: [DBNMPNTW]ConnectionOpen (CreateFile( )) . This will add a property to the database connection string that will force ClinicTracker to connect using TCP as opposed to shared memory or named pipes. You may only select this option if your SQL Server is set to listen on the default port of 1433.

Note: If this screen appears automatically when you log in, and you see the SQL Server and SQL Database set as “INVALID”, this is an indication that the path you selected is inaccessible. This is often caused by a network outage or removal of a mapped drive. You will need to adjust the path value or re-establish your connection before proceeding.
