Progress Note Settings

  • Free Form Progress Note Prompting Text (leave blank for no prompt): Enter a caption to display above the large text area on Free Form Progress Notes. Leave blank for no prompt.
  • Display Header: Typically Progress Notes are printed without a header to save on space. However, you may check this option if you wish to display a header on Progress Notes.
  • Insert Page Break: Typically Progress Notes display the appointment information followed by the progress note content. However, you may check this option if you wish to insert a page break between these two sections.
  • Require Date of Last Use on DAP/PT Notes: Checking this option will make the Date of last reported substance use field on the DAP and PT Progress Note templates a required field.
  • Auto Spell Check Progress Notes: Checking this option will cause the spell checker to be automatically run anytime you save a group note, collateral note, or progress note.
  • Default to Show Mental Status Report: Checking this option will show the MS1 and MS2 (Mental Status Report) tabs on the SOAP, SNAP, and DAP Progress Notes by default.
  • Display Psychotherapy Tab on Stock Progress Notes: This turns the Psychotherapy Notes tab and printing capabilities on or off in all of the Progress Note templates.
  • Populate Tx Planning Tab When Loading From Prior: This determines if the treatment planning tab should be populated when loading from a prior Progress Note for the current patient.
  • Default Progress Note to Tx Planning Tab: Checking this option will cause the Tx Planning tab to be selected by default when creating or viewing progress notes.
  • Require entry for first linked Goal on Tx Planning Tab (Stock Progress Notes): Check the box to require a First Goal on the Treatment Planning Tab of the Progress Note (Stock Progress Notes)
  • Require entry for first linked Goal on Tx Planning Tab if Patient Has Locked Treatment Plan (Stock Progress Notes)
  • Lock Tx Planning Dropdowns to Treatment Plan: When this setting is enabled, it will restrict Goal and Objective drop downs on the Tx Planning tabs of the Progress Notes. The user must pick from the Tx Plan button rather than typing or using the dropdown list. To enable this setting, find Lock Tx Planning Dropdowns to Treatment Plan in the Progress Notes section of the Formats tab.
  • Free Form Note Requires Content: This setting will prevent the locking of a Free Form progress note if no content is entered in the narrative section. To enable this setting, check the box labeled Free Form Note Requires Content in the Progress Notes section of the Formats tab.
  • Prevent Diagnosis on Output: Select this option to prevent the diagnosis information from showing on exported records.
  • Prevent Loading Previous: By default when creating a new Progress Note, you will be prompted to load from a previous Progress Note. This allows the user to create a new Progress Note by copying a previously created note where they can then adjust any of the data as necessary. Should you wish to disable the ability to load from a previously created Progress Note, you can enable the Prevent Loading Previous option. Note that this setting can be adjusted on a per-user basis within the Staff Info record.
  • Prompt on Pending Status: When this option is checked you will receive a prompt when you try to create a Progress Note for an appointment in "Pending" status. This option will prevent users from accidentally completing a Progress Note and locking the record without properly setting the appointment status.
